Our Irish colleagues have been here before, of course, several times, but there is an expectation that it might actualy happen this time, especially with the last-minute recall of the head of the regulator, Ann Maria Caulfield, on the grounds of an "imminent and significant announcement on new gambling regulation."
A presentation substituted for an address that Ms Caulfield had been programmed to deliver at a seminar duting the show.
The footfall was apparently good at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, close to Dublin Airport, which was a useful venue for the visitors and exhibitors from outside of Ireland, many of them from UK suppliers for whom the Republic is a useful or even significant extra market.
The social side of the Irish show is always a major talking point and apparently was well up to the usual standards.
